TAIT BJORNSEN : WHY I SLUT STRAND

[Why I Slut Strand]: Hello everyone! So excited to be sharing today. My name is Tait Bjornsen (@tait_bjornsen) and I am a former alpine ski racer turned all mountain/backcountry skier from Jackson Hole, WY. With the mountains as my backyard playground, skiing has always been a huge part of my life. I spent my early days in edgie wedgies watching amazing skiers rip around me, and wanting to be just like them.

I have so many memories from growing up on skis. Some of my oldest and best friends I met on the race hill (or more like in line at the lodge buying candy😉). Living in Jackson allowed us to see many of the TGR premieres. Every year we would be beyond excited to meet the skiers from the posters hanging on our walls. However, as I got older, I noticed how few of these athletes were women. To me that never made sense because I knew girls that could shred with the best of them.

Although I did not have too many female coaches at the higher levels of ski racing, I watched Caite Zeliff and Hadley Hammer absolutely shred in their TGR films, and watched Veronica Paulson throw the first female backie into Corbet’s, with their hair covered in pow and ripping in the wind the whole way. These ladies showed me how much we belong on the slopes. I am a part of the SSS team because I hope that I can bring those same feelings of confidence and belonging to the younger female shredders out there.
