GIGI DODDS: WHY I SLUT STRAND
Hey there! My name is Gemma Grace but I go by Gigi. Originally, I was born in Wisconsin (Go Pack go! 🧀), but I moved out to Colorado when I was young. I grew up skiing Summit County and have grown to love the outdoors and the vibes of the community. I am a trans women in an outdoor industry of predominantly cisgender, heterosexual, males. That’s intimidating. Getting constant homophobic/transphobic hate from people in the community really puts a damper on everything. It’s something as simple as slut strands, that boosts my self esteem tenfold.
In a sport where your entire body is covered in clothing, slut strands are truly iconic. Slut strands are a powerful statement showing that you’re an unapologetically strong female. Slut strands also show that women are excelling in a male dominated sport and will continue to do so, but with style. As someone who’s constantly berated with dysphoria, slut strands create euphoria and confidence. Looking cute and kicking ass? Sign me up.
I slut strand because I love the unity of the society. I slut strand because it helps define who I am because standing true to myself is something I pride myself on
