Black Lives Matter.

Black Lives Matter. You matter. You matter. You matter.

Slut Strand Society was created on the firm foundation of bringing equality to snowsports. But let’s just face it point blank. Our lifestyle & community is bred from white privilege. It is not equal. It remains divided. Unwelcoming. This week has left me breathless, sad, frustrated, heartbroken & discouraged. And frankly, putting words into this space is terrifying as I often feel inadequate to raise my voice, especially as a privileged white woman, raised in a ski town with comfort at my disposal. But that in itself is utterly selfish of me.
As an industry we are so quick to jump into activism, especially when it comes to our planet. But, as soon as shit hits the fan amongst our own people we hide to protect our own comforts. I want the Slut Strand community to be better than that and get uncomfortable. Our uncomfort is a very small price to pay in comparison to the lives we have lost.
So, what can I do? I can put my hair back and do the work. Not just check off a box that I posted on the gram, but to dig in internally, acknowledging my privilege, provide empathy, and act to become truly anti-racist. I can continue to donate. I can vote for change. Just as @newschoolers & @snowboardermag stated: Skiing & Snowboarding Doesn’t Matter. Black Lives Matter. Your Words Matter. Your Actions Matter.
