Nolee Moscatelli: Why I Slut Strand

[Why I Slut Strand]: Hi! My name is Nolee. I was born and raised in the beautiful little ski town of Crested Butte and recently moved back to Colorado after years away. Growing up in CB, the outdoors were deeply a part of my life. Skiing, boating, skating- we did it all.

When I was 12 years old my life flipped and I was in a boating accident, resulting in the loss of my right arm.

After over a week in the hospital I was finally able to home to my little community of CB. I was forced to adjust to life with one less arm. How to write left handed. How brush my hair or cream cheese a bagel. But most of all, how to wake surf behind my boat again.

At age 12 there isn’t much that could stop me. But growing up my confidence began to suffered. I had to relearn how to love myself. Even if I do look a little different now.

The Society has empowered me to be confident in who I am no matter what. SSS has inspired me to embody my personal strengths and how important it is to be empowered. It has inspired me to live freely and experience life’s wonders. I want to show younger girls and even older that there is so much beauty in overcoming carnage and learning to love yourself. Again, again, and again.

And that is why I Slut Strand.

Xo, Nolee.
